In 2022, I begun dabbling in podcasting with Among the Noise. As time went on and it was clear I wanted to go in more depth in Star Wars discussion than made sense for a podcast like that, I begun planning a separate podcast all about Star Wars. In 2024, while living with my parents temporarily, I spent months planning it out and asked both of my brothers if they'd join in as co-hosts or regular guests. They agreed to be hosts, and Galaxy Bound was born.
If you're reading this and thinking "is there really that much to talk about with Star Wars? They're just movies!" - well yes. You probably aren't aware of the vast lore behind the movies, not to mention the books, comics, and video games. It's the biggest media universe in history, with decades of lore that has been written, making it such a unique and massive universe to talk about. You may know Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker and the events of the movies, but what happened between the movies? There are books, comics, and games for stuff like that. There's also tons of content for years before and after the movies too.
Our main goal with Galaxy Bound is to keep it as positive and constructive as possible in our discussions. That doesn't mean we only say good things about everything that has been made in Star Wars, but to keep our discussion and criticism free of hate and rage bait. Nobody actually enjoys listening to that, unless they have so much hate inside them already. We love all Star Wars in some way, some things more than others. We just want to talk about it as actual fans.
I'm writing this a little after a year of us launching, and it has gone very well. We have tweaked how we do things over time and learned what works and what doesn't, and that will continue to happen. Part of that is because I just love trying new things and also making things better and better. With the kind of budget that we have, we are limited of course, but our goal is to make it as professional as possible, regardless of budget.
In our first year we had a lot to discuss. We had two live action series' to watch and review on the podcast, and we plan on doing that with all main films and series going forward. We had a few guests on throughout the year, who contributed to our discussion in a great way and we hope to have them back on, as well as more guests over time.
Overall it has been a great start, but it has been just that: a start. Our natural views and listen numbers are good, and we're hoping to grow our audience as time goes on.
